Shorthand command to insert images in latex

If the following new command is added to the preamble of a tex file, images can be inserted without the need to insert all the figure environments etc. Just because I'm lazy ... :-)

% Parameters: placing, width(fraction of textwidth), Path/name.png, short caption, long caption, label
% example : \fig{htbp}{0.8}{images/example.png}{short text for listoffigures}{this is the longer text telling all the fuzzy details visible on the image just inserted}{chapter3figure1}
\newcommand{\fig}[6]{
        \begin{figure}[#1]
        \begin{center}
        \includegraphics[width=#2\textwidth]{#3}\caption[#4]{\emph{#5}}\label{#6}
        \end{center}
        \end{figure}
}
