This simple timer script is executed from the commandline and takes two inputs. First a timer name, second a time indication in hours and/or minutes. 

It sends output to the screen using osd_cat, printing large messages in the middle of the screen. The last five minutes it gives a warning that times almost up, and finally it shows the timer name with 'time's up' message for 15 seconds.
